On-line Services For Busy Moms
Because of my background and training I take some of the skills I have learned as a social worker into my Direction, asking questions that help guide and challenge people.
How many ways can you receive Direction? On-line is becoming the best thing for busy moms.
With our lives being so full, I have been working with directees, that is what someone receiving Direction is called, over the phone and through secure chat for over five years now. This is a wonderful way for a busy stay-at-home mom, or someone with a hectic schedule to participate in Spiritual Direction. Whether by phone, over chat or in person Spiritual Direction is always done the same way and with the same focus. The aim is to help someone find God in everything, everyone and every situation.
Using hour long sessions of Spiritual Direction: either by phone, email, in person, or over secure chat we can explore, re/define, and celebrate all you are by:
- Helping you understand your parenting style and how God is calling you as a parent
- Exploring your goals, which ones move you forward
- Discovering your gifts and talents and how God is calling you to be all you are
- Creating a prayer life which flows and works best for your particular lifestyle.
You may also become a member and receive: the Newsletter, Informational Yahoo! Chat, Access to the Gathering Groups and Retreats unlimited email and chat.
There are three aspects to Spiritual Direction:
- Spiritual Life Exploration: Focuses on helping you learn your talents and gifts as you grow as a woman, wife and mother
- Spiritual Direction: Explores your personal insights, those God moments, that guide you.
- Spiritual Consultation: Examining issues of concern to you as a woman and mother.
How my sessions of Spiritual Direction go…
Whether on-line through chat or phone, or in person during a one-on-one session
1. We always begin with prayer or silent mediation to help us remember we are always in God’s presence
2. next we talk about what is going on in your life.
3. You are free to say and ask what ever you wish.
4. We are looking for those “God” moments in your situations, relationships, triumphs and difficulties.
5. We might spend time exploring other prayer forms all so you can have a deeper experience of how God works in your life.
6. I often will give you some “homework”, for example: creating a peaceful place within your home to spend time with God. The “homework” is always related to the situation on which we are working.
Spiritual Direction as I see it…
Gaining Trust Building Relationships
1. We meet bi-weekly this has proven to be best. This schedule helps us to explore your spiritual needs. It helps build trust which is so needed for Direction.
2. After three months of bi-weekly meetings we then meet once a month.
3. Direction has no time frame. It can last as long as you feel God is calling you to take.
4. Evaluations of you experience is always helpful,
keeps me honest.
5. We work together to help you understand your relationship God.
6. Some tools I find helpful for you: a dream / prayer log where you can explore any patterns in your life, record God’s working with you when dealing with a situation, or to rejoice in the blessings you have.
The most important tool:
Prayer which begins each session. We might explore silent prayer, or Guided Meditation or other forms of prayer.
The goal of Spiritual Direction is always on God, and you perception of how God is working with you.
The most profound and personal relationship you will experience in your life is your relationship with God.
